I wrote my Masters thesis on using the Internet in industrial procurement, so I always like to keep up with the latest statistics. Google and ThomasNet.com conducted a survey recently that shows that industrial buyers are purchasing more and more online. But.....
70 percent of buyers expect to find detailed information on product applications and uses online, but only 53 percent of all sellers' web sites provide it.
58 percent of buyers want online computer-aided design drawingand plans, but only 13 percent of sellers make them available.
74 percent of buyers expect prices to be listed, but only 23 percent of company Web sites have that iinformation.
67 percent of buyers seek shipping information and costs, but less that 17 percent of suppliers offer this information online.
My analysis from the late 90's showed that suppliers were behind. Seems they still are.
